About the race
The 7th edition of the Copa Brasil AA, held in the vibrant capital of Brasília in 2026, offers a unique opportunity to swim in one of Brazil's most iconic artificial landscapes. While many open water events favor the coast, this competition takes place in the heart of the Distrito Federal, utilizing the vast expanse of Lake Paranoá. This lake is not merely a venue; it is the lifeblood of Brasília, a city masterfully planned by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. Swimming here provides a surreal perspective of the city's futuristic architecture and lush green surroundings from a distance, creating a calm yet competitive atmosphere that stands in sharp contrast to the hectic pace of city life.
Organized by the Confederação Brasileira de Desportos Aquáticos (CBDA), the event is a staple of the Brazilian swimming calendar, attracting both top national athletes and passionate amateur swimmers. The lake is known for its calm freshwater, making it an excellent setting for those looking to test their endurance. Water temperatures are generally temperate and pleasant, providing a refreshing experience under the bright Brazilian sun. Due to its central location and the wide range of facilities in the capital, the Copa Brasil is exceptionally family-friendly and offers a well-organized environment where spectators can easily follow the events from the shore.
