Where to stay
Auckland offers a spectrum of stays, from high-end boutique hotels along the Viaduct Harbour and Britomart districts to compact serviced apartments near the CBD. For those preferring a quieter base, coastal suburbs offer charming guesthouses. Expect to pay between 180 and 450 NZD per night for centrally located options, while suburban stays can be found from 130 NZD. Many participants prioritize proximity to the ferry terminals for easy access to various race day start lines.
Things to do nearby
Between events, the region provides extensive opportunities to explore the Hauraki Gulf. You can take a ferry to Waiheke Island for vineyard tours, rent a kayak to explore the volcanic coves of the islands, or hike the dormant volcanic cones like Mount Eden for a panoramic view of the two harbours. For history enthusiasts, the Maritime Museum at the waterfront details the region's deep connection to the Pacific, providing context to the currents you have just navigated.
