About the race

When Carolina Bilich Queiroz first began her journey in the waters off Vitória, she was navigating the same Atlantic coastline that has shaped the maritime identity of this region for centuries. Born here in 1995, her rise to international competition reflects the deep-rooted connection this city maintains with its open sea. Swimmers participating in the Travessia da Vitória encounter an environment defined by the dynamic interplay of the Atlantic Forest biome, where stretches of restinga vegetation line the coastal sandbanks.

## The course and the coast Unlike the narrow, restricted waters of the nearby bay, the race at Praia de Camburi opens up to the vast Atlantic, offering a direct encounter with the ocean's influence. As you swim, the horizon is punctuated by the infrastructure of the port, which stands as a testament to the city's industrial scale. While the nearby Travessia Vista do Mestre offers a different perspective of the local archipelago, the Vitória event focuses on the endurance required for the 1km, 3km, and 7km distances. Participants should remain aware of the coastal conditions, as the area’s hydrodynamics are influenced by the convergence of river estuaries and open sea currents. The historical landscape remains a silent witness to the city's evolution, particularly the massive land reclamation projects that transformed the original 50 islands into a unified urban coastal front. Much like the strategic maritime defense once maintained by the Fort of Sao Francisco Xavier de Piratininga, swimmers must maintain a steady, defensive line against the currents to navigate the course efficiently. Organized by Vibe Positiva Sports, the event is set to return on April 26, 2026, challenging athletes to test their rhythm in the same waters that fostered the careers of local swimmers like Gabriela Campagnoli Rocha.
